How does pledging work?
Pledging is a promise to pay for a particular animal in need. You can pledge any amount you like – every bit helps. Rescues depend on donations to help animals in their care with medical/behavioral issues so your dollars support their ability to help ACC animals every day. Some of these animals end up with massive medical/training bills.
Why should you pledge?
A rescue may take notice to a particular animal with special needs, if there is rallied support around it. Due to the amount of sick animals coming from the ACC it is difficult to prioritize at times who they can help and who they cannot with massive veterinary bills. You should pledge because your dollar DOES COUNT to that animal!!!
How do you pledge?
To pledge you simply click on the animal’s thread and go to their ORIGINAL THREAD in the website album (not on our Facebook wall). You make a comment with your amount pledged – such as “$5” – and take note of the animal’s location, A#, At Risk list date, and what you pledged. Please keep track of which animal you pledge on, either by bookmarking the thread, storing the thread URL in an online file, or writing their name on a piece of paper.
When do you pay your pledges?
When the animal is moved to SAFE and in rescue, we will update the thread with the info we receive from them once we confirm the animal is indeed “SAFE”. This may take a few days based on their schedule and the ACC’s schedule. You can always bookmark the animal’s thread to watch its status.
If you want to find out if the dog or cat you pledged on is safe, by viewing our “SAFE” folder, you can find the latest one via our page:

We handle the status of hundreds of animals on a daily basis so it is very hard for us to look up every dog or cat you have pledged for or watched. Please be proactive and bookmark or watch the albums so we can continue to focus on helping save lives
IMPORTANT:
DO NOT EXPECT A PM FROM THE RESCUE. Rescues are busy rescuing dogs and cats. If you are passionate enough about a particular animal to actually pledge for them, you should follow the thread. If the animal is SAFE and the rescue link is posted, you should honor your pledge at that time. Too often, rescues are forced to PM people multiple times in order to collect their pledge. If an individual repeatedly fails to honor their pledges, they will be banned.
DO NOT MAKE STIPULATIONS ON YOUR PLEDGE. It is becoming far too common for individuals to stipulate that they will
pledge and then put conditions on that pledge. A couple of examples are: only IF the animal goes to a reputable rescue or only IF a freedom picture is posted. The NYC ACC only allows New Hope Partners to pull from their shelters. They have already done the investigative legwork and if they deem them reputable, we should all consider them to be. As for freedom pictures, they are a bonus and not a requirement. None of this should prevent a pledge from being honored.
DO NOT PLEDGE IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO HONOR IT. We have noticed several people remove their pledge comment after the animal has gone to rescue. This is not allowed and you will be blocked from using our page if you continue. We have a list of these ‘fake pledgers’ and will take action if it continues. The rescues work too hard to save lives to be shorted by people who do not really want to help. Deadbeat pledgers have no place on our page – we are all here to help and it is a waste of time.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SUPPORTING URGENT, THE RESCUES, and OUR NYC ACC ANIMALS IN NEED!!!
