Since the ACC and The Mayor’s Alliance released a statement that we all know is NOT TRUE, why not call them on it?
“Emily was not the only one taking photos of the animals and sending specialized pleas. In addition to the daily automatically generated alerts sent out by AC&C including photos and information on the animals, the New Hope Department staff will continue to send specialized pleas for animals in need.”
(The following is an EXAMPLE of poorly advocating for a dog in need. Since writing this, Princess was given a bio and proper picture and she was adopted! Please do not use Princess in future emails)
Princess is on tonight’s list. She scored all 1’s and 2’s except for Dog to dog (4). That one score should not make her exempt from a plea and picture, should it? Especially since the owner stated that Princess loves men, women, children, and dogs!! Too bad there is no special plea to help us gain some insight into that score.
Copy the letter below and save it. ANYTIME a dog hits the euth list, without a plea or picture (As Princess did tonight), send an email to advise our friends of their “oversight”. Do not put a subject line on your email! Just input the dog’s name and A # (in the space provided) and send it to:
[email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]
*I have included my email above ( [email protected]) so that I can keep records (PROOF) of all the emails that were sent*
**DO NOT FORGET TO PUT THE DOGS NAME AND A # IN THE SPACE PROVIDED, NOT THE SUBJECT LINE!**
Dear Sirs:
In a recent statement following the dismissal of New Hope Liaison Emily Tanen, Animal Care and Control of New York City reassured a National community of outraged adopters, rescuers, donors, and volunteers that there would be no gap in service for the animals:
“There is more than one staff person that sends out pleas and takes photographs of animals needing placement. We also have volunteers that take photographs as well.” I am writing today to request that the following animal be counted and acknowledged as an under served statistic and a challenge to that false claim; an animal in AC&C’s charge that is currently at risk for death without decent photo representation or a biographical sketch to entice rescue or adoption:

Because of AC&C’s lack of priorities and continued acceptance of sub-par services as a “necessary evil” they have neither the will, nor the creativity to address, adoptable companion animals are being killed with almost no effort to find a humane, alternative solution. Shame on Mayor Bloomberg, shame on the city council, shame on the Mayor’s Alliance, and shame on Julie Bank and the executive staff of AC&C. These animals deserve better.
Sincerely,
